ENERWISE GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES DELIVERS ENERGY MANAGEMENT
ENHANCEMENTS FOR PROGRESS ENERGY'S ‘PREMIER POWER PROGRAM'

Enerwise's On-Site Power Generation, Power Quality Management Services Integrated in Less than 60 Days

(Kennett Square, PA) December 17, 2001 – Enerwise Global Technologies (http://www.enerwise.com), a leader in enterprise energy management, announced today it is providing enhancements for Progress Energy's ‘Premier Power Program,' a distributed generation service for commercial and industrial customers, offered through Progress Energy's Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) and Florida Power utility subsidiaries. Progress Energy is utilizing Enerwise Distributed Generation Dispatch® and Enerwise Power Quality® products combined with Enerwise consulting services to help customers with mission-critical needs increase reliability and reduce costs.

These products also afford Progress Energy the option to use distributed sources of power to keep up with high-energy demands and support overall system reliability. Enerwise is providing Progress Energy with enhanced control, monitoring, alarming and predictive maintenance capabilities through an Internet-enabled interface, which allows 24x7 real-time interaction between Progress Energy, Enerwise and the generation installed at the customer facilities. Enerwise anticipates the initial sites to be implemented within sixty days from the onset of the project and will continue to support the Premier Power Program through ongoing consulting support.

"The Premier Power Program delivers customers significant energy reliability and safety gains, as well as cost savings advantages. This service provides ‘a complete outsource solution' customized to meet mission-critical power needs of our customers, all for one monthly charge." said Mark Kruger, Director of Power Protection Solutions, Progress Energy. "Enerwise's products greatly streamline the processes involved, enabling Progress Energy to completely manage its distributed generation resources, making the inherent processes transparent to customers and easing the administration of the program."

Enerwise's ability to scope the project, provide recommendations for improvements and implement system enhancements for Progress Energy at multiple locations represents a significant milestone for both the company and the industry.

"The speed and success of this integration speaks volumes about the scalability of our offerings and the feasibility of rolling out distributed generation. We were able to put our services in place at multiple sites in the Progress Energy system in a very short period of time," said Dean Musser, Senior Vice President of Client Services for Enerwise. "The capabilities added by our products will provide Progress Energy with reliable communications and monitoring mechanisms that will automate complicated processes and provide advanced energy information in real-time."

"Enerwise also provided the distinct advantage of a single source for system integration, making the whole implementation process more efficient," noted Kruger. "Enerwise's services will significantly enhance our ability to manage the Premier Power Program and help us continue to deliver the best innovations in energy to our customers."

Enerwise Distributed Generation Dispatch® directly supports the implementation of load management strategies, maintaining reliability and reducing maintenance costs while maximizing the value of site generation resources. Enerwise Power Quality® monitors facility electrical disturbances and provides notification if readings fall outside of tolerance specifications. This greatly reduces downtime costs and enables evaluation of auxiliary systems to ensure optimal performance. Together, these products will both help Progress Energy to work with customers to identify needed levels of power protection for the purpose of design, installation, management and maintenance of customers' systems, including the weekly testing of Premier Power generators to ensure reliability.
